NOT EVERY ANGEL DESERVES WINGS.

Big dreams belong to small surfaces

Words by Memi Deloti
A small bear with a blank oval face sits on a plinth in a dark room, lit by a single shaft of light, with a star above and the words MEMI DELOTI and VENEER COLLECTIVE below

It's a fact — documented, and frankly screaming out loud — even if it didn't make tonight's news.

People hunched and worried, lost in the narrow streets of the city, losing even the last hope of speaking to one another.

And whose fault is it, exactly?

While loneliness knocks non-stop at the doorstep of their lives, they keep playing KNOCK ALL YOU LIKE ON A DEAF MAN'S DOOR.

Shut inside the square metres they themselves declared ideal… and then they wonder how it is that no dream comes true, nothing takes on colour, nothing unlocks the smile they fought so passionately to claim!!!

Such big dreams — so how did they sink into such small surfaces?

Why were you afraid, and why am I, some moments, afraid to live them?

A complex, my darlings — and a catastrophic one at that!

You give your dreams away with a cheerful "good morning", somewhere no breath will ever mist the glass enough for you to write "I love you"!

And you simply get angry at the world that hemmed you in … that cornered you … that wouldn't let you …

But you, in the end … did you let yourself dream? Did you believe you? Did you hold you?

So how exactly do you expect anyone else to do it?

YOU AGAINST YOU. Again!

Find the surface your dream deserves — whether it looks small or large, it is YOUR SURFACE and YOUR DREAM!

And don't be a "KITTEN" … learn to walk on your own side.
